Tips to be a Good Author
It seems very easy to be an author. Just sit down and write a book. Well, it’s not. It takes lots of skill, creativity, and time. But if you want your books to turn out very good and well written, here are a few tips to help.
-You must have lots of patience and time.
-Don’t put in babble, or things not important such as describing clothes. That bores the reader. You can do it, but not too much.
-Put in punctuation correctly.
-When you write a part, you might really like it, but be sure to have a parent read it if you’re not sure.
-Work on it every time available.
-If in a bad part, don’t delete it. Add on and once editing, make your decision.
-Do 3 or 4 rounds of editing.
-Don’t delete stuff into the trash. Make a page of out-takes. If you don’t like the part, put it there just in case you want it back.
-Be consistent. If too hard, put a star by some of the facts you might’ve not kept consistent, and that way instead of a big error, you can fix it.
-Picture your character’s appearance, and know what they like. Maybe make a yearbook of them and a handbook of them like me.
-Don’t write about something you’ve never experienced. (Thank you Andrew Clements for that tip) I did that on my first book, and I’ll let it go on this series since I need to finish it. But for the rest of my books I won’t.
If you follow these tips, you could one day have a novel published.
Thank you to my cousin Amanda for the idea to put up these tips!!!!
